However, dating success through language can go deeper than just speaking the same ones. The specific way you talk can help measure compatibility.
Graduate psychology students from multiple universities developed a computer program to detect function words — ambiguous words in a sentence such as articles, conjunctions, interjections and pronouns. Then they ran conversations from speed dating events through it. The results of the study found that the closer people’s word choices were to one another the more chance there was on them going on a date afterwards.
This is just another in a series of enlightening pieces of dating research that just goes to show that finding that attraction is a lot less random than people think, and that attraction is really a very complicated psychological bond. For me, I think that makes love just that little bit more unique, human, and beautiful.
